Unless you’ve been able to live online to keep up with the blistering pace of the transfer portal, you may have missed the fact that Indiana men’s basketball now has six (6!) commitments from the transfer portal, less than a week after it officially opened.

Class standing listed for the 2026-27 season.
On paper, Indiana is bringing in what could be a solid starting lineup, with nobody playing out of position and a few guys who could see minutes at multiple spots. That’s already more than Indiana had for long stretches of last season.
In practice though, at least one of these guys has committed to what will be a bench role. Depending on what this staff is able to do over the remainder of the portal period, it could be more than just one.
Having been starters for all of last season at their previous high majors, it would be safe to assume that Markus Burton, Bryce Lindsay, Aiden Sherrell, and Samet Yigitoglu came to Indiana to continue starting in college basketball games, giving DeVries a point guard (Burton), shooting guard (Lindsay), power forward (Sherrell) and center (Yigitoglu). Throw in Jaeden Mustaf as a potentional starter on the wing as well.

With what each of these guys have done in their last season or two at high major schools, this should be a marked improvement over last season for Indiana, and there’s still time to add more production. Plus there’s Trent Sisley likely coming off the bench, but competing for big minutes at the four spot.
That leaves the three spot open for Darren Harris and Mustaf to compete for, with each of them bringing something different to the table.
Harris played almost exclusively at the two spot at Duke, but we’ve seen DeVries use guards with good size on the wing. At 6’5” he’s just one inch shorter than Jasai Miles, and is a former four star recruit with potential to be a quality starter at the high major level.
Mustaf, on the other hand is more firmly a forward, having seen time at the three and four spots at Georgia Tech. He’s not a shooter in the mold of a typical DeVries wing we saw last year, making him a good change of pace even if he is coming off the bench.

As of now, these two will likely have the chance to compete for a starting spot, though neither of them have the experience of their fellow transfer classmates. In addition to adding depth up and down the lineup, DeVries might try to land one more experienced guy with a few years of starting under his belt, which could put both Harris and Mustaf on the bench to start the year.
However it shakes out, this roster looks like a big improvement over last year, and that’s not considering the trio of four-star recruits that DeVries has joining as freshman this year. Each of them could compete for big minutes, but none of them will be relied on for too much than they can handle.
Things are looking up in Bloomington, with more time to shore up an already impressive roster.
