The Tempo opened their inaugural season with a 68-65 defeat at the hands of the Washington Mystics before bouncing back to take down the Seattle Storm 86-73 on Wednesday night. Forward Marina Mabrey led the way for the Tempo with 26 points on nine-of-20 shooting, to go with four rebounds, three assists, and four steals. Guard Brittney Sykes also had an impressive outing in the win, scoring 18 points to go with eight rebounds and six assists.

The Sparks, meanwhile, are 0-2 thus far this season, most recently falling 87-78 to Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. In the defeat, star guard Kelsey Plum was her usual productive self, scoring 25 points on nine-of-16 shooting, to go with four assists and one steal. Dearica Hamby, on the other hand, had 16 points, eight rebounds, and two steals in the loss.
After going 21-23 last season, the Sparks will be eager not to start their 2026 season in a 0-3 hole, setting up for an intense matchup against the Tempo.
