BLOOMINGTON — Indiana football running back Khobie Martin will be out until midseason after suffering an injury in a 52-16 win over North Texas, according to coach Curt Cignetti.
Martin, who was limited to just two snaps for the No. 6 Hoosiers (1-0) in their season opener, posted an image on Instagram on Sunday of his right arm in a sling.

Martin generated buzz going into the season as a potential breakout player while competing for reps with Turbo Richard and Lee Beebe Jr. In 2025, Martin rushed for 505 yards (6.5 yards per carry) with six TDs and seven runs of 20-plus yards.
The Fishers native signed with IU in 2024 as a holdover from the class Tom Allen put together.
“Man, I love Khobie,” Indiana left tackle Carter Smith said ahead of the opener. “He’s really grown a lot as a leader. He used to be when he first got here in ’24, a young cat, it seemed he definitely had a lot of potential, and he’s really lived up to it nowadays. I can’t wait to see what he does on Saturdays.”

Martin’s injury will mean a heavier workload for Richard and Beebe going forward.
In the opener, Indiana’s running backs had a near even split in carries — Richard rushed 15 times for 58 yards and two scores, while Beebe ran for 33 yards on 14 carries — and made key contributions on special teams. They both had long kickoff returns in the first that set up short touchdown drives.
Indiana will also make sure Sean Cuono is ready if needed. The second-year running back signed with the Hoosiers in 2025 as a three-star back out of Clearwater Central Catholic in Florida. He played in one game while redshirting last season.
Cuono played one snap on offense in the season opener, but didn’t have a rushing attempt.
