Coach Kerr has led the Dubs to four NBA Championships during his stint, but he wouldn’t have done it without Green’s role as the defensive anchor and the vocal leader of the team.
However, in recent years, Green’s on-court play has declined, and his controversies have been on a steady rise.
As the head coach of the team, Kerr has always been expected to support his players, including Green. But according to the veteran defender himself, coach Kerr grew frustrated with his antics.
“My head coach, Steve Kerr, came up to me and he said, ‘Man, it’s become incredibly hard to support you publicly.’ I said back to him, ‘Don’t. I’m fine. I don’t need you to support me publicly,’” Green said.

He added, “I could see the weight lifted off his shoulders. Like, what? Yeah. Don’t.”
