Watch: Ashlee Simpson Reveals Her, Pete Wentz’s 17-Year-Old Son Is Following in Their Footsteps
Ashlee Simpson’s son has picked up some pieces of her.
The “Boyfriend” singer revealed that her and ex-husband Pete Wentz’s 17-year-old son Bronx plans to follow in his parents’ musical footsteps as he heads off to college soon.
“I’m about to be a mom of an 18-year-old, which is just so wild,” Simpson exclusively shared with E! News at an Alice + Olivia breast cancer awareness event Oct. 16. “A lot of my kids love music, especially my oldest.”
The teen—who will be 18 on Nov. 20—plans to study music, with Simpson adding they’ll “see where that takes him.”
“I’m so proud of him,” the 42-year-old raved, “and I love that boy.”
And Bronx isn’t the only member of the family planning to practice his la-las, as Simpson—who shares kids Jagger, 11 and Ziggy, 5, with husband EvanRoss—is prepping some music of her own.
“I have been in the studio working on music. I cannot wait for next year,” Simpson revealed. “I feel like it’ll be coming out sooner than you know and I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve been working hard on it.”
And after spending over two decades in the industry, Simpson is celebrating a milestone with the 21st anniversary of her song “L.O.V.E.” from her album I Am Me.
“We just did the record? of it, which is so exciting,” she shared. “It came to my house and getting to share that with my kids is so cool.”
The song has also picked up some extra L.O.V.E. from Ziggy, with Simpson noting that her daughter “loves that song and shares that with her friends.”

In addition to working on her music career, the “Pieces of Me” singer is also focusing on philanthropy, explaining how meaningful it was for her to be part of Alice + Olivia’s breast cancer event that raised money for the Breast Cancer Research Fund.
“This cause is so important to me,” she said. “Breast cancer runs in my family and it’s something I support.”
“This is something where women come together and support one another,” she added. “We’re all here to uplift each other and go through it together.”
