The 2026 awards season is officially underway following Sunday night’s Golden Globe Awards, where the heartbreaking historical drama Hamnet and the sprawling comedy One Battle After Another took home the night’s top honors.

Hamnet, directed by Chloé Zhao, won Best Motion Picture – Drama, with star Jessie Buckley securing Best Actress for her portrayal of Agnes Hathaway. The film has been praised for its emotional depth and visual storytelling.
On the comedy side, Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another won Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. The film, which features an ensemble cast including Timothée Chalamet and Benicio Del Toro, was celebrated for its energetic direction and sharp screenplay.
In television, the hit series Adolescence was the breakout winner, sweeping the Limited Series categories. The ceremony, hosted by Nikki Glaser, drew praise for its return to a more traditional, celebratory tone after years of industry turbulence.
