The Green Bay Packers and head coach Matt LaFleur had a big opportunity on Thursday Night Football against the Atlanta Falcons in their home opener at Lambeau Field. They had an opportunity to help put the Week 1 collapse against the Minnesota Vikings completely in the rearview mirror.
Losing the first game of the season is one thing. Winning the next two games is another thing that would have set them up in a great place heading into Week 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Going up against the Falcons seemed to be a favorable matchup for the Packers. Atlanta had started the season 0-2 and looked very bad while doing it. Unfortunately, Green Bay hit rock bottom in Week 3.
When all was said and done, LaFleur and the Packers were blown out at home by a final score of 35-14. There was nothing positive to take from the loss. Instead, it was a sobering moment for a franchise that has long expected to contend for a Super Bowl.
At this point in the season, Green Bay doesn’t look anything close to being a title contender. In fact, there is reasonable doubt that the Packers are even a playoff team.
Following the blowout loss, LaFleur spoke out with a blunt five-word message.
As shared by NFL Network, LaFleur said what every Green Bay fan in the world was thinking.

“That was a humbling night,” he said.
It was more than just a humbling night. The Packers should be embarrassed. They didn’t even show up for their home opener against a team that was widely viewed as inferior.
Nothing looked right for Green Bay. Defensively, the Packers gave up 498 total yards of offense and allowed Bijan Robinson to carve up their defense to the tune of 194 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries. He averaged a staggering 6.7 yards per attempt.
Offensively, Green Bay struggled once again. Jordan Love ended up throwing for 312 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception, but he only completed 28 of his 53 pass attempts. On the ground, the Packers mustered up just nine carries for 17 yards.

Coming out of Week 3, there is a lot of anger and frustration surrounding the Packers’ fan base. The calls for LaFleur to be fired have grown deafening. If Green Bay can’t rebound with an extremely strong performance against the Buccaneers in a week and a half, the panic button will have officially been pressed.
