The Jacksonville Jaguars announced that they have signed long-snapper Ross Matiscik to a contract extension. So let’s hand out a grade for this deal.
Matiscik has been with the Jaguars since 2020, when he signed as a UDFA out of Baylor. Since 2023, he has made the Pro Bowl all three seasons and was named a first-team All-Pro in 2023 and 2025, along with being a second-team All-Pro in 2024.

Matiscik’s new contract adds two years to his current contract, which was set to expire after the 2026 season. However, he is now under contract through 2028.
According to reports, Matiscik will earn $3.8 million in new money, making him the highest-paid long-snapper in the NFL.
This decision by GM James Gladstone was likely an easy one to make. To go along with his accolades, Matiscik finished last season third in special teams tackles, according to the Jaguars’ team site, and he also sets the table for punter Logan Cooke and kicker Cam Little, and the success those two have had.
“Matiscik has snapped for P Logan Cooke to achieve a 43.0-yard net punting average in 2025, the fourth best mark in the AFC, and for K Cam Little‘s franchise-record 140 points scored, fifth most in the NFL this season,” said the Jaguars in a statement.
And while Matiscik is the highest-paid long-snapper in football, in the grand scheme of the NFL salary cap, he still accounts for a relatively small amount of what the Jaguars have to spend, but provides an immense amount of stability.

This move also keeps the Jaguars’ stellar special teams trio together for the next few seasons.
