Watch: Golden Bachelor’s Mel Owens, Peg Munson Break Up One Year After Finale
Mel Owens is focusing on his golden moments.
One week after PegMunson announced the two had broken up after finding love on season two of The Golden Bachelor, Owens shared what he is focusing on in the wake of the split.
“Stay positive, stay strong, stay golden,” he wrote on Instagram Oct. 27 alongside a picture of himself in the gym. “And Stay Bizzy…”
But don’t expect him to tell all on the end of the relationship, as the 67-year-old responded to a fan comment that stated he didn’t “owe anyone an explanation of every detail of his breakup.”
“Amen. Thank you,” Owens replied, clearly touched by the support. “You are so kind.”
And when another fan said it was “bad form” for fans to offer “unsolicited advice to a grown man in his 60’s,” he wrote back, “Well said.”
In a followup Instagram post, the former NFL player also hinted he might be interested in starring on another season of The Golden Bachelor, sharing a poster of himself with the caption, “You never know….#bachelornation.”
But Owens made it clear that his single status isn’t affecting every area of his life. When one fan told him the “’break-up’ diet will get you nice and lean,” he responded that he’s “never heard” of the diet and has been maintaining his same fitness routine for years.
Owens and ex Munson had been together for almost a year since the finale of the ABC dating series, with Munson revealing the two had recently decided to end their relationship.

“I really want to thank everybody for being there on this journey with me for the past year,” she shared in an Oct. 21 Instagram video. “And I’m really sorry that I haven’t spoken out sooner, but it’s been a really difficult 30 days for me.”
“As a lot of you guys know I went on The Golden Bachelor, hoping to find love, and I did,” she continued. “And you know, for that I’m grateful.”
But the 63-year-old admitted that like every rose, their relationship had its thorns and she made “the difficult decision to step away.”
“Sometimes, even when there’s love, it just doesn’t turn out the way that we hoped,” Munson explained. “So right now, I’m just, I’m just focusing on healing my heart and just focusing on myself, my health, and looking forward to the next chapter.”

Still, she bore no ill will towards her ex, adding that she wished Owens “the best of luck” and that she was “very grateful for the experience.”
She reiterated in her caption that although the “love is real,” and the “outcome isn’t what you hoped for,” she will always be thankful for the support she received from Bachelor Nation.
Owen and Munson are the second couple from The Golden Bachelor to call it quits, with season one stars Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist divorcing in April 2024after just three months of marriage.
