Watch: ‘Girl Meets World’ Producer Alleges “Horrible” Creator Made Sabrina Carpenter, Rowan Blanchard Cry
While Girl Meets World helped launch the careers of Sabrina Carpenter and Rowan Blanchard, the actresses allegedly had a rough start to the show.
That’s according to Girl Meets World producer Frank Pace, who explained that creator Michael Jacobs had “reamed” them at the first table read for the show, which aired on Disney Channel from 2014 to 2017.
“Michael was horrible,” Pace explained to Danielle Fishel in an interview in the Doc Meets World documentary, per Variety. “He just reamed all the young cast. He didn’t think they upheld the tradition of Boy Meets World and Rowan was crying, and Sabrina was crying.”
E! News reached out to Jacobs’ attorney for comment but has not heard back
Although he admitted that Jacobs could be difficult, Pace said that quality could have both good and bad results.
“Michael was fun for me to work with because he was a challenge,” he said. “He was a nightmare for me to work with because he was a challenge. Same reason.”
Meanwhile, Rider Strong, who starred in Boy Meets World and Girl Meets World, shared his own mixed emotions about working with Jacobs on both series.
“There’s a lot that I owe to Michael and that I will always cherish,” he noted in the documentary, “but I needed to cut him out of my life, let him know that I don’t condone his behavior.”
And Fishel, who also starred in both shows, had a similarly rocky relationship with Jacobs, explaining that it was difficult for her to give feedback on some of his storylines.
“I started pushing back, and I started confronting Michael and I started being very vocal,” she shared. “That did not go over well.”

Doc Meets World follows Fishel, Strong and Will Friedle as they came together to create their podcast Pod Meets World in 2022 and looked back at their upbringings on Boy Meets World.
During the premiere of the documentary on June 6 at the Tribeca Festival, one major cast member was noticeably absent: Ben Savage, who played protagonist Cory Matthews in the original series and its later spin-off.
“There’s always hope,” Friedle told E! News at the Doc Meets World premiere regarding the group’s relationship with Savage. “There’s been no change but everybody’s gotta take their own paths in life. We’re totally fine with that.”
