The New York Giants are acquiring former Michigan standout quarterback J.J. McCarthy from the Minnesota Vikings, according to reports Monday from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo and ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Minnesota will receive a fifth-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft in exchange for McCarthy, the No. 10 overall selection in the 2024 draft, the NFL Network reported.

The Giants’ move comes after second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart injured his knee in Week 2 and is expected to miss the remainder of the regular season. Veteran Jameis Winston started in Dart’s place Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, helping New York earn a 12-7 victory.
