Mississippi State is making its first visit to Foley Field since 2022 with much more on the line than against Georgia baseball than a typical SEC series.
The conference foes play a best-of-three Super Regional series for a spot in the College World Series starting Saturday, June 6.

The last seven games between the teams have been away from Athens with regular season games in Starkville in 2024 and 2026 and a matchup May 21 in the SEC quarterfinals in Hoover, Ala.
Georgia won the four games they played this season.
“They know what we do and we know what they do,” Mississippi State first-year coach Brian O’Connor said. “I feel like all four games we played with Georgia – they were all great ballgames – we just came out on the wrong end of it.”
The Athens Super Regional matches No. 3 seed Georgia (49-12) against No. 14 seed Mississippi State (43-17).

Georgia won the SEC regular season and SEC Tournament championships and went 3-0 in the Athens Regional last weekend. Mississippi State went 16-14 in the SEC, and finished seven games behind Georgia in eighth place. It went 3-0 in its regional in Starkville.
The NCAA Athens Super Regional starts Saturday, June 6, and runs through Monday June 8, if necessary. The Saturday and Sunday games will be shown on ESPN with Monday to be determined.
Georgia will be making its sixth NCAA super regional appearance. The Bulldogs are 9-5 overall in super regionals.

The Bulldogs are 7-5 in super regional games in Athens. The last time Georgia played a super regional at home was 2024 when it lost two of three to N.C. State including 8-5 in a deciding game 3.
The super regional is a best-of-three format. The first team to win two games advances to the College World Series in Omaha. A third game will be played if necessary.
There are eight super regional sites with the winners of each moving on to play in the College World Series at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha starting Friday, June 12.
The Foley Field outfield commuter lot and Carlton Deck beyond the Foley Field outfield wall and across from the Dan Magill Tennis Complex is available to park for the Athens Regional. There is no reserved parking.
