Watch: Gal Gadot Shares How Being a Mom Unlocked Another Part of Her as an Actress
Gal Gadotis still marveling at the wonders of parenthood.
The Wonder Woman star explained how becoming a mom to her and husband Jaron Varsano’s kids Alma, 14, Maya, 9, Daniella, 5, and Ori, 2, even helped her unlock a new side of herself as an actress.
“Anything that I go through emotionally in my life just feeds into my acting as well,” Gadot shared in an exclusive interview with E! News’ Will Marfuggi, “because it gives me more to work with.”
And much of those emotions come from being a mom of four.
“I feel from my experience that my life before becoming a mom was just the preview to what life is when I’m gonna be a mother,” she explained. “Everything changes. The priority, the depth of the emotions that I felt.”
Plus, having kids helped the 41-year-old understand that “it’s not about you—it’s always about them,” which in turn helped her unlock “more and more tools” throughout her acting career.
Motherhood certainly gave Gadot plenty to tap into for her new film The Runner, in which she stars as Maia, a high-powered attorney who is forced to obey cryptic commands from a mysterious caller (DamianLewis) as she races through London to save her abducted son.
“I check up on them all the time,” she admitted of her children, “but I also try to not let it bleed into my relationship with them and insert this anxiety into their lives.”

Still, it was very easy for her to relate to her character’s “intention and motivation” in the film, which premieres globally on Prime Video Sept. 2.
“I’m a mother too, and I know how I would feel if, god forbid, something happened to my children,” she reasoned. “I’ll do anything I can in order to save their lives, just like Maia.”
And when it comes to negotiating with a madman assassin or an overtired toddler, there’s no competition of which one is more difficult. “The latter,” Gadot laughed. “Absolutely.”
