Once the 2026 NFL draft ended, phase two of the draft started when teams scrambled to sign their top undrafted free agents. This is an opportunity for teams to snatch up guys who fell in the draft but have tons of untapped potential. Unfortunately, the Pittsburgh Steelers are rarely one of those teams.
Once again, Pittsburgh kept things very low key, signing only six players and none of them considered draftable players who slid. Having said that, there are still a pair of guys who we see as potential prospects who can stick with the 53-man roster if a few things fall their way.

Here’s the full rundown of guys the Steelers brought in.
1 – DT Kevin Jobity Jr. – Syracuse
2 – TE Chamon Metayer – Arizona State
3 – TE Lake McRee – USC
4 – CB Devan Boykin – Indiana
5 -LB Daylan Campbell – Missouri
6 – K Laith Marjan – Kansas
To be honest, if the Steelers have selected Syracuse defensive lineman Kevin Jobity Jr. instead of Gabriel Rubio in the sixth round, we would have been less surprised. Jobity’s upside, especially as a pass rusher is much higher than Rivera and at 6-foot-4 and experience inside and outside, fits precisely what the Steelers need as depth behind Cam Heyward. Jobity had 5.0 sacks last season and in 38 career games, 20.5 tackles for loss. Rubio had 1.5 career sacks and in four seasons, just 7.5 tackles for loss. Even with a potential return of Dean Lowry, we love Jobrity’s chances.

Next up we have tight end. The Steelers brought in two as undrafted free agents and depending on what type of player they want to back up Pat Freiermuth and Darnell Washington, either Lake McRee or Chamon Metayer would make the roster. And this is knowing full well the Steelers spend a pick on fullback/tight end Riley Nowakowski. We tend to think Metayer has an inside track on making the team due to his history with Steelers rookie offensive tackle Max Iheanachor. Both guys played next to each other at Arizona State and With Iheanachor potentially on the fast track to a starting job, getting his blocking mate makes a lot of sense.
