Former Kogi West senator, Dino Melaye, on Wednesday, faulted President Bola Tinubu for allocating funds accrued from the fuel subsidy removal to state governors in return for their votes and support in 2027.
Calling out the president, Melaye said Tinubu thinks he is smart to have diverted the proceeds of subsidy to governors.
In 2023, during his presidential inauguration in Abuja, Tinubu announced the removal of fuel subsidy as part of the reforms of his administration.
But the policy was recently faulted by the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar, who promised to return fuel subsidy if elected as Nigeria’s president in 2027.
