The FSU Seminoles are in their most important stretch of the season, welcoming the Virginia Cavaliers to Doak Campbell Stadium for a crucial game.
FSU (2-2, 0-1 ACC) is looking to get its first win over a Power Four opponent this season, and Mike Norvell desperately needs a win as he works to cool off his seat, which is still scorching hot, but there is a path for him to survive. The Seminoles will need their offense to have another good performance against a Virginia defense that has been stingy but is vulnerable.

Virginia (3-1, 1-0) is fresh off a 42-3 win over the Delaware Blue Hens and is looking to pick up another conference win. They did lose their last game against a Power Four opponent, losing 38-27 to the West Virginia Cavaliers. Despite that loss, they have looked like a better team than FSU and are favored in the game.
FSU has lost the last two meetings between these two ACC rivals, but leads the series 9-1 at home. The game is set to start at 3:30 p.m. ET in Doak Campbell Stadium and could feature poor weather.
Here are our predictions for FSU’s game against Virginia.

Prediction: FSU 24, Virginia 20.

Virginia’s defense is stingy, so I don’t think Florida State will score a lot. However, I think their defense will have its best performance of the season thanks to getting off the field because Virginia converts less than 38% of its third-down attempts. Also, I feel like FSU’s running game will control the pace and get Virginia’s offense on the sidelines just enough to pull out a win.

Prediction: Virginia 33, FSU 19
Virginia’s offensive line is one of the most experienced in the country. I think Pribula will have a very easy time tearing up the Seminoles’ porous defense. FSU will be looking for this to be a win they can build off, but it’ll be just another game they’ll lose to Virginia – their third in a row going back to 2017.

Prediction: FSU 31, Virginia 27
Virginia’s defense should keep this game competitive, but Florida State has enough balance offensively to create problems over four quarters. With Ashton Daniels’ ability to make plays through the air and on the ground, plus the advantage of playing at Doak Campbell Stadium, the Seminoles should be able to generate just enough explosive plays to pull away late.

Prediction: Virginia 38, FSU 24
The Seminoles will fight as they look to avenge last year’s loss, which started the season’s downward spiral, but the Cavaliers will pull away in the second half as their offense wears down FSU’s defense.
