McLaine Hudson will be joining FSU softball as a state champion. The five-star signee led South Warren High School to a 45-0 record and a KHSAA state championship.
They completed their perfect season on Saturday, beating Bullitt East 8-0. Hudson had one of the best seasons in Kentucky softball history and was named to the All-Tournament team. It is their first-ever state championship.

She entered the game hitting .770 with 28 home runs, 24 doubles, and 79 RBI. She had a .809 on-base percentage and a 1.738 slugging percentage, walking 30 times and striking out just three.
Hudson is ranked as the No. 3 overall player and No. 1 infielder by Softball America. She has a 99.0 overall grade, making her FSU’s highest-rated signee of the past three years.
It is a fitting end to Hudson’s career, who is the two-time Kentucky Gatorade Player of the Year and has rewritten the state’s record book. She holds the state record for runs (403), hits (435), and home runs (90). She was a six-year varsity player and ended her career hitting .617 with a 1.204 slugging percentage and a .659 on-base percentage with 72 doubles and 85 walks to 26 strikeouts in 216 games.
