Fédération Française de Football president Philippe Diallo has recently met with France’s national team players to inform them that their World Cup bonus payments will be reduced, according to L’Equipe. Several Les Bleus players have reportedly been left surprised by such a request.
The outlet reports that Diallo informed Les Bleus that FIFA’s prize money was not yet up to expectations, that the exchange rate between the dollar and the euro was unfavorable, and that the World Cup would be particularly costly.

Nevertheless, several France players were bewildered considering that the French FA banks €100m per annum thanks to their record Nike contract. Furthermore, the FFF agreed to double merit payments for France’s national team players, just because they successfully qualified for the 2026 World Cup.
L’Equipe understands that the French FA has been seeking to cut costs across all levels, including the national teams. Diallo and Les Bleus will meet next week as France will kick off their World Cup training camp in their Clairefontaine home.
