The search continues for six missing people after a charter boat sank off the coast of Richmond on Sunday.

Police believe the boat had ten people on board when it began taking on water near Roberts Bank.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre was notified at 11:45 a.m. by a civilian vessel of several people in the water without life-jackets, at which point a large search and rescue operation began.

Four people were rescued from the water and transferred to emergency health services. Six remain unaccounted for, according to an RCMP news release issued at 7:45 p.m.

The incident happened around 18 kilometres southwest of Vancouver International Airport.

The cause of the incident is not yet known as police investigate.
