Florida man allegedly used large drill to threaten person during fight over a beach chair
MIAMI (TCN) — A man has been arrested after allegedly using a drill to threaten another man’s life during an argument over a beach chair.
According to an arrest affidavit, 50-year Yacov Levi allegedly entered a private beachside condominium community on April 29 and asked if he could sit on a beach chair, the New York Post reports. He was reportedly turned down because he was not a resident of the community and allegedly became irate.
The affidavit states that Levi allegedly swung a beach umbrella at someone and charged after a man while holding a drill and shouting that he was going to kill him. He then allegedly fled down the beach while holding the drill, according to witnesses.
Law & Crime reports that the drill was several feet long.
When police attempted to arrest him, Levi allegedly kicked an officer in the legs and used the drill to cause $500 worth of damage to one of the beach chairs in question, according to the Post. WPLG reports that he was allegedly sitting on the beach chair, refusing to move.
Levi was charged with attempted aggravated battery and battery on a law enforcement officer, and misdemeanor criminal mischief. WPLG reports he was booked into jail on April 29.
According to WLPG, Levi has an arrest record dating back to 2018. In 2023, he allegedly attempted to steal a Jet Ski while naked.
At his first scheduled bond hearing on April 30, he reportedly refused to appear and was aggressive; the hearing was rescheduled for the following day, according to WPLG.
