Mark Pope and the Kentucky basketball team are working to land their best class yet in 2027. Forward Ryan Hampton is already committed, and they’re in the running for a number of other elite players. One player they targeted is Reese Alston, who visited Lexington this week. The interesting part is that fans didn’t even know he was there.
Originally scheduled for an official visit in October, Alston decided to come to town a bit earlier. He posted on social media that he had completed his visit along with a video on Instagram.

Alston is a 6’2″, 175 lb point guard out of Houston, Texas, and the son of former NBA guard Rafer Alston. He is currently rated five stars by 247Sports, and ranks as their No. 9 overall player in the 2027 class. He recently cut his list of schools down to seven, with the Wildcats making the cut. Louisville, Houston, Wichita State, Vanderbilt, the LSU Tigers, and Tennessee Volunteers.
This past season, Alston averaged over 22 points per game, along with 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and nearly 3 steals per contest. He is a tremendous talent, and would be a huge win for Pope and Kentucky. We will continue to monitor his recruitment, and hope he had a good time visiting the Bluegrass State.
