Fede Valverde’s availability for El Clasico has now been clarified following a shocking midweek incident that sent shockwaves through Real Madrid’s camp.
The Uruguayan midfielder was at the center of reports involving a training-ground altercation, and the club has since issued an official medical update that effectively settles the question ahead of their clash with Barcelona.

It is not the update Madrid fans were hoping for, and it comes at the worst possible time in the season.
According to Fabrizio Romano on X, the club released a formal statement on Valverde’s condition.
“The tests carried out today on our player Fede Valverde by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury.
“Valverde is at home in good condition and will need to rest for 10 to 14 days, as per medical protocols for this diagnosis,” Madrid confirmed.
The timeline effectively rules him out of El Clasico, dealing a major blow to Real Madrid as they prepare for one of the biggest fixtures of the season.

While the club confirmed he is stable, the nature of the injury means there is no room for risk. Recovery and rest now take priority.
The injury did not come out of nowhere. It followed a heated sequence of events inside Real Madrid’s training ground that escalated quickly.
Reports suggest tensions began during training after a heavy challenge, before carrying over into the dressing room the next day. What started as a verbal disagreement turned into a physical confrontation between Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni.
During that altercation, Valverde suffered an injury after falling and hitting his head on a table, which caused a deep cut and required medical attention.

However, Valverde later pushed back on the more extreme versions of the story. In his own statement, he insisted that the injury was accidental and denied that punches were exchanged, pointing instead to frustration and tension spilling over in a difficult moment.
Real Madrid’s dressing room has reportedly been under strain following a disappointing, trophyless campaign, with internal frustrations boiling over at the worst possible time.
Now, that tension has cost them one of their most important players for El Clasico, and it leaves more questions than answers heading into the biggest game of their season.
