Ever since the Atlanta Falcons signed Tua Tagovailoa, the NFL analyst community has been leaning in his direction to win the quarterback competition over Michael Penix Jr.
Tagovailoa has a few advantages over Penix, including more experience at the pro level, more familiarity running a Kevin Stefanski-type offense and being a more accurate passer in the red zone.

Stefanski spoke with the media yesterday at Flowery Branch after the team’s latest OTAs practice. He said that accuracy is the “most important trait” for a quarterback, and that Tagovailoa’s is a God-given ability.
“There is an innate ability, and all of our quarterbacks have this, to be able to let the ball go and it’s going to where you want it to go,” said Stefanski. “Tua just in his career, as we’ve seen, just has that innate, God-given ability.”
