Former Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowl defensive end Everson Griffen has been in custody at the Hennepin County Jail since being arrested on Saturday, Sept. 5.
Hennepin County Jail records show that Griffen was booked into custody at 5:46 a.m. Saturday on probable cause of 5th-degree drug possession and probable cause of DWI. He is being held without bail.

Griffen was pulled over by South Lake Minnetonka Police around 1:25 a.m. for allegedly driving recklessly near County Road 19 and Smithtown Road in Shorewood, the Minnesota Star Tribune reports. The officer documented Griffen displaying “numerous signs of impairment [from] possible stimulant and narcotic use,” the affidavit reads, per the Tribune.
The newspaper adds that Griffen was suspected of being involved in a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 394 near Highway 100 before his arrest in Shorewood.
Griffen has been arrested once in each of the past three months. In July, he was arrested in southeast Minnesota for violating his restricted driver’s license. Specifically, his vehicle was not equipped with a functioning ignition interlock device, court documents in Winona County revealed.
On Aug. 26, Griffen was tased and arrested on Interstate 394 in Minneapolis for allegedly failing to comply with a State Patrol trooper’s commands. The State Patrol told Bring Me The Sports that Griffen was walking on the left-hand shoulder of I-394 when a trooper directed him to leave the roadway. Griffen allegedly “refused to comply with the troopers’ lawful commands.”
