It’s been a rough summer for Atlanta Falcons fans. While the rest of the division got better, they’ve had to watch an ugly future develop at quarterback between Tua Tagovailoa playing poorly and Michael Penix Jr. patiently recovering from a knee injury, and with the regular season just weeks away they’re no closer to an answer than when they started. So it shouldn’t surprise anyone if the dirty birds go looking for help under center.
And there could be a solution playing backup for the Los Angeles Rams, at least according to ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky. Orlovsky was so impressed by Stetson Bennett IV’s work against the New Orleans Saints in a 34-0 preseason shutout that he argued the should be playing in the NFC South. What if the Falcons tried to pivot to Bennett? That would probably be a popular move among Georgia Bulldogs fans — he led the Dawgs to two national championships in 2021 and 2022 — but it’s tough to see him replicating his success against a Saints team playing their starters.
