Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso has explained why his team lost 1-0 against Sunderland in the Premier League on Sunday.
Alonso watched as Enzo Le Fée’s goal ensured Sunderland defeated Chelsea at Stadium of Light.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Alonso admitted that Chelsea didn’t create enough goal scoring chances against the hosts.
According to him, the Blues lack speed on the ball against Sunderland and didn’t have enough patience during the encounter.
“It’s our mistake. We were missing a bit of speed on the ball, a bit of patience playing against a low block,” Alonso said.
“We didn’t create enough chances; we didn’t have enough patience or creativity to create chances.”
Chelsea will now take on Leeds United in their next Premier League clash after the international break.
