Former West Ham United midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker has called on Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes to give the captaincy to someone else.
Reo-Coker believes taking the captaincy from Fernandes could help his on-pitch performances by taking the burden off him.
He stated this after the Portugal international led the Red Devils to beat AS Roma 3-2 in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Fernandes was on the scoresheet as he scored a penalty, while his teammate Matheus Cunha netted a brace as the Premier League side defeated the Serie A club at Old Trafford.
“You [Fernandes] are a great player, but you’re not going to be the leader,” Reo-Coker told CBS Sports Golazo of Fernandes.
“Give it [Man United’s captaincy] to someone else who you can be consistent with, and just take that burden of pressure off you.”
