Lukkason, a DWU 2012 graduate, was a Great Plains Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2013 and an All-American shortstop. He was an all-GPAC selection as a junior and senior for the Tigers, who were coached by Steve Gust, now the head baseball coach at Minnesota Crookston.
As a senior, Lukkason hit .401 with five home runs, 40 runs scored, 43 RBI, 13 doubles and a triple.
Lukkason was a multi-sport athlete at East Grand Forks — competing in baseball, tennis and hockey. He spent nearly 10 years as the head coach of the East Grand Forks American Legion baseball team before stepping down in 2025 to spend more time with family.
Lukkason ended his DWU career with 160 games played, 147 hits, 104 RBIs, eight home runs and .318 batting average.
