Alabama State football earned its first SWAC win without starting quarterback Andrew Body against Mississippi Valley State in Week 4, and it’s preparing to be without the SWAC preseason Offensive Player of the Year when the Hornets travel to Bethune-Cookman.
Alabama State coach Eddie Robinson Jr. said Body has transitioned into a hard cast on this non-throwing wrist, and the timetable for his return is unknown at this time.

“It’s hard to say the timetable because we don’t know how fast it will heal,” Robinson said during his weekly press conference on Wednesday, Sept. 30.
Robinson initially said that Body had sprained his wrist, but indicated that his wrist injury is bone related.
“It’s one of those areas where the bone doesn’t get a lot of oxygen, is what they’re telling us, or a lot of blood flow. So it’s not really a, it’ll be a back in a week, two weeks, three weeks or four weeks,” Robinson said.
Robinson said that the team and Body himself are optimistic that Body will return this season.

For now, Robinson said the focus and faith will be on the true freshman Aaron Frye until Body can return to the field.
Frye earned the start for the Hornets against MVSU, going 10-for-21 with 137 passing yards, a passing touchdown and an interception. Frye also scored twice on the ground with 29 rushing yards on nine attempts.
The three touchdowns that Frye scored against MSVU was the most a QB has scored for Alabama State this season.
