Watch: ‘DWTS’ Pro Witney Carson Slams Untrue “Narratives” About Guillermo Rodriguez Partnership
Witney Carson isn’t tiptoeing around the rumors.
After the Dancing With the Stars pro shut down speculation that she was hoping to be voted off the show with her season 35 partner GuillermoRodriguez, Carson explained exactly why she addressed the rumors.
“Because it’s not true,” she exclusively told E! News after Oct. 6’s Mariah Carey night, “and I just don’t like narratives that aren’t true online without me speaking my truth.”
“I felt like there was enough of it that I did need to clarify, and I needed to get my narrative out,” the 32-year-old explained. “Social media has created such an amazing platform where we can actually do that and we can set the record straight. And I just don’t love anything out there that’s untrue, so I wanted to clarify.”
And Carson—who is expecting her third baby boy with husband Carson McAllister—felt that she and Rodriguez were getting better and better each week, despite being at the bottom of the leaderboard with 13 points from judgesDerek Hough,Carrie Ann Inaba andBrunoToniolifor their samba to Carey’s “Obsessed.”
“I feel really good,” Carson said. “I feel like we’re starting to pick up speed a little bit, and we’re in the momentum of the competition and getting into the routine of learning new dances.”
Of course, each week has provided its own set of challenges for the pair—especially with Rodriguez’s busy schedule—but the dancing pro noted the two “are doing our best.”
As for Rodriguez, the Jimmy Kimmel Live! star also felt positively about the competition, especially because it proved a new way for him to connect with wife SaraiRodriguez.

“She met Witney the first week,” he recalled, “and she’s like, ‘You gotta do it. You gotta do it. Remember, go have fun. Most of [the dancers] are in their 20s and the 30s. You’re not a dancer. Go learn as much from Witney so you can teach me.’ And I’m trying to learn as much as I can.”
The TV mainstay also plans to keep his “diva” mentality intact, just as he told the judges after his performance. Although Rodriguez was the first to admit, it does take some work.
“Listen, being a diva is hard,” he confessed. “I think you just gotta change the way you think. You just gotta think, ‘You know what? I got this.’ Be positive. Own it.”
