The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Abia State Council, has advised politicians and their supporters to refrain from hate speech, inflammatory statements, violence and other acts capable of undermining the peace, security and stability of Abia State.
The NUJ made the call in Umuahia after its monthly congress held at the NUJ Press Centre, Aba Road, Umuahia.
In a communique signed by the Chairman of the NUJ, Abia State Council, Chidi Asonye, and Council Secretary, Ikechukwu Onuegbu, the journalists called for issue-based campaigns.
The NUJ commended the Abia State Government for commencing the payment of gratuities to Abia State pensioners, but called for the sustenance of the payment.
