Watch: Donald Trump Confirms He’s Not Attending Son Donald Trump Jr.’s Wedding
Donald Trump is staying put at the White House this weekend.
Days ahead of his son, Donald Trump Jr.‘s, wedding to socialite Bettina Anderson, the 79-year-old explained why he ultimately had to RSVP “No” to his eldest’s nuptials.
“While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and the newest member of the Trump Family, his soon to be wife, Bettina,” Trump wrote in one of many Truth Social posts shared on May 22, “circumstances pertaining to Government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so.”
“I feel it is important for me to remain in Washington, D.C., at the White House during this important period of time,” Trump concluded, signing off with a “Congratulations to Don and Bettina!”
With the blessing of his father, Don Jr.’s wedding—which is set to take place over Memorial Day Weekend 2026—will happen on a small island in the Bahamas, multiple outlets report. However, the newlyweds didn’t wait until their ceremony to officially tie the knot. Don Jr. and Bettina got legally married on May 21, according to a marriage application obtained by People, with the model’s twin sister, Kristina Anderson McPherson, serving as their witness.
This begins the 48-year-old’s second marriage, following his 12-year relationship with Vanessa Trump, 48—with whom he welcomed Kai Madison Trump, 19, Donald Trump III, 17, Tristan Milos Trump, 14, Spencer Frederick Trump, 13 and Chloe Sophia Trump, 11—before eventually divorcing in 2018.
“After 12 years of marriage, we have decided to go our separate ways,” Don Jr. and Vanessa, who is now dating Tiger Woods, announced in a joint statement at the time. “We will always have tremendous respect for each other and our families. We have five beautiful children together and they remain our top priority. We ask for your privacy during this time.”
And though he went on to date Kimberly Guilfoyle following his and Vanessa’s divorce—they got engaged in 2022—the pair ultimately parted ways in 2024. As such, Christmas 2025 marked a new romantic chapter for the serial entrepreneur, who had been linked to Bettina, coinciding with the news of his breakup from Kimberly.

“It’s not often that I’m at a loss for words, ’cause we usually do the ranting and raving really well,” Don Jr. said in a speech revealing his engagement to Bettina during the White House holiday party. “But this is a little different. But I just want to wish you guys an incredible holiday season, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year.”
For her part, the 39-year-old was equally as overjoyed.
“I get to marry the love of my life,” Bettina said. “And I just feel like the luckiest girl in the world.”
