    Watch: Dolly Parton’s Sister Stella Slams “Insensitivity From Strangers” After Her Death

    Don’t mess with the Partons.

    Nearly two weeks after Dolly Parton died at 80 following a brief battle with cancer, her sister Stella Parton spoke out against the negativity that her family has faced since the tragedy.

    “First let me say, thank you to the ones of you who have shown ‘genuine’ support and love during this time of our family bereavement,” Stella wrote in a statement shared to Instagram Sept. 4. “We will be okay in time but each of us will grieve in our own personal way.”

    “Every human being experiences pain and loss in life and my family is no different,” she added. “Sadly, because of the way our lives have been lived in front of the public, we have no choice but to be subjected to incredible pressure and insensitivity from strangers.”

    Indeed, the 77-year-old shared that includes “a tremendous amount of AI and endless garbage being posted everyday and it’s been challenging to absorb and or ignore.”

    And doctored posts aren’t the only way Stella has experienced negativity on social media in the days since her sister’s passing.

    Dolly Parton’s Sister Freida Details Family’s “Insurmountable Loss” After Her Death

    “The feeling of being told you were less than, undeserving or insignificant were deep wounds on all of us as children,” she added. “I walked alongside her my entire life and witnessed and experienced many of the same slights and insults even through this recent loss in our lives.”

    But even with some hate making the rounds on social media, Stella shared that the “9 to 5” singer would be elated over the overwhelming support her family has received.

    “My big sister Dolly would be surprised and delighted by the love her family and she has been shown during this time. She loved her fans and the public in general,” she explained. “My sister was a positive influence to the world into which she was born. She used her music as a tool and a passion to move people in a positive way.”

    That’s why Stella hopes her message can inspire people to be more kind.

    “I ask that you show more compassion and wisdom as we move forward in life,” she said. “Use my sister’s life as an example for tolerance and respect toward others.”

    “At the end of the day or the end of a life, how will you feel about yourself?” she added. “It’s not about what other individuals you will never meet think of you!”

    Dolly’s nephew Bryan Seaver shared Aug. 25 that the country music legend died following a private health battle, sharing deeper insight into how she acted as a rock for her loved one.

    As he noted in the video announcing her passing, “Dolly opened doors not just for me, but for her entire family to reach the potential we didn’t even know was possible.”

    Bryan also shared that his family has “shared a lifetime of beautiful memories with Dolly,” adding that her fans have as well.

    “She has always been on your television, your record player, your CD and on your phone playlist, becoming an extended part of your family, whether you liked it or not,” he continued. “Our family and the team she has entrusted with her legacy will work diligently to ensure her spirit will live with us forever.”
