The Dallas Cowboys got off to an inglorious start to the 2028 season on Sunday night. After watching 12 games through the afternoon contests, the Cowboys and New York Giants took center stage with the nation watching. While the Cowboys remade their defense over the offseason, the Giants remade their entire team, hiring John Harbaugh to be head coach and look to refresh the attitude and culture of the team.
It worked, at least against Dallas on this day. The Giants did pretty much everything they wanted to on offense, marching down the field with two second-half touchdown drives of over eight minutes. Those, in addition to a six-minute TD drive to start the game, and a 29-second score to end the first half accounted for all four, debilitating scores in the Giants 28-20 win.

Dallas has started another season with a division loss, and it was one of the more frustrating ways one could imagine losing. With the score tied at seven at the two-minute warning, quarterback Dak Prescott unloaded a beautiful bomb down the right sideline to George Pickens, who dropped the potential touchdown.
On the next play, throwing off his back foot trying to get it out of bounds, Prescott threw an interception. The unraveling continued when, remeniscent to last season, defenders were throwing their hands in the air watching the Giants call the same play three times in a row to score a touchdown before the break to lead 14-7.
Getting the ball to start the second half, the Giants marched for 12 plays to extend the lead to two scores. After Dallas answered, the Giants then started spamming dump offs to the running back, and the Cowboys never covered him in the flat, with Devin Singletary eventually scoring the fourth touchdown.
The Cowboys responded with a nice drive, but got no closer after RB Javonte WIlliams‘ taunting penalty led to a missed extra point.

The Cowboys never saw the ball again, scoring on both second-half possessions, but dominated as they were never able to pressure QB Jaxon Dart or stop the running backs.
Dallas will return home to work on some things and take on the Washington Commanders, who lost 24-22 to Philadelphia earlier in the day.
