Rutgers Basketball Director of Basketball Operations Mike Larkin is headed to Stonehill to be an assistant coach after spending the last seven years in various roles for the Scarlet Knights, according to a report by Jon Rothstein.
Larkin originally joined the program in 2019, serving as a special assistant to the head coach in 2019-2020 and 2020-2021. He was promoted to the Director of Basketball Operations in 2021-2022 and has been serving in that role ever since. He made $123,600 for this past 2025-26 season, according to The Knight Report.

Before arriving at Rutgers, Larkin spent seven seasons on the coaching staff at St. Michael’s College, where he was also the Associate Head Coach for the final four seasons of his tenure there. His time in Piscataway wasn’t his only time in a coaching role on a Rutgers campus, as he served as a graduate assistant for Rutgers-Newark for two years. He also spent a year as an assistant at Bard College.
With Larkin’s departure, the search for a new director begins. The Director of Basketball Operations is largely in charge of handling the administrative side of everything, such as travel, compliance, recruiting coordination, and other things of that nature.
