The Detroit Lions still haven’t said much about linebacker Jack Campbell’s injury, but several players have expressed strong emotions.
Campbell’s neck injury was the headline in Detroit’s 19-15 home win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Nov. 1, with the All-Pro linebacker still recovering in a local hospital. Details of his condition have not been publicly disclosed, but Lions coach Dan Campbell insists that the linebacker is improving.

“All we can do at this point is continue to pray for Jack, put all our thoughts on him when we have a minute,” Campbell said in an interview on WXYT-FM 97.1 on Tuesday. “And it’s working, like I said, because he is improving.”
Campbell said he would address the players about Campbell when they arrive for practice on Wednesday, while adding that players should keep Campbell in their thoughts while focusing on their upcoming game against the Miami Dolphins.
“Adversity comes in all shapes and sizes, and we gotta overcome everything that comes our way. So we gotta reload, lock in,” he said. “Once you know that, then you gotta move on for yourself, too, in that moment. Because if you let things wander and you drift and you worry a little, and you’re trying to play or prepare, that’s where bad things can happen to you because you’re not all-in on what you need to be doing.”
Lions edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson, who gave a teary-eyed speech to his team shortly after Campbell’s injury on Sunday, said in a separate interview on WXYT-FM 97.1 on Tuesday that he is still dealing with strong emotions two days after the injury.

“After that game, it was just the weirdest feeling, just with Jack and everything,” Hutchinson said. “So many things happened, and it was just a lot on my mind after the game … so much stuff happened on defense where it was just a lot to process.”
