The Detroit Lions conducted their second practice of the week Thursday in preparation for Sunday’s game on the road against the Arizona Cardinals and released their second injury report of Week 5.
The only change for the Lions from Wednesday is defensive tackle Tyleik Williams being upgraded from not practicing to limited.

Defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard got animated talking about Branch being back practicing when he said, “How many positions can he play and how fast? I mean, he’s a dynamic player. That is an elite player in this league, which we all know. But we also got to do right by the player. So just make sure we pick and choose how much, how soon, where, what’s best for him right now and just kind of take that approach to it because I’m ready for him to go all 78, however many we play. The Saints game, that was 90? (It was.) Let’s go 90, BB. As much of Brian Branch as I could get right now, I want.”

Then, when asked how realistic it is that he might play given that he’s been sidelined with an Achilles injury since Week 14 last season, Sheppard said Thursday, “From what I saw yesterday, is if we were playing tonight, it’d be realistic. This dude looked like he hadn’t been out. I’m serious. It looks like he hadn’t been out. It’s unbelievable. So, it’s just a matter of, I’m going to lean on (director of player health and performance) Brett Fischer, (head trainer) Mike Sundeen, and our medical staff here. They’ve always done a tremendous job. And whatever they tell me, if that’s 20 plays, if it’s 30, if it’s 50, I want it to be 60. But whatever they tell me, I’m going to allot that and we’re going to roll.”
