At the age of 32, most NFL running backs are close to the end of their career and thinking about retirement, but not Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry,
Henry says he is not even considering retiring but instead is thinking about getting better.

“I don’t try to enter another season thinking about retiring and have that on my mind,” Henry said after the Ravens’ training camp practice Thursday via The Athletic. “That’s not even my mindset. My mindset is: How can I get better, be the best I can be so we can be the best team we can be? But no, I haven’t thought about retirement at all.”
Henry is coming off another productive season, rushing for over 1500 at the age of 31. The year before that, he came off a 1900 yard season.
In an interview back in January, Henry explained that this past season is what motivates him this year.
“I’m motivated more than ever,” Henry said.. “I really appreciated this year and how it all went down, because it motivated me to be ready to get back when next year comes, and work as hard as I can in the offseason to be better. I don’t have no timeline. I’m just ready to go.”

Also, what may be motivating Henry is how things played out toward the end of the season when he uncharacteristically had fumbling issues in crucial moments in games.
“That’s correct, one small error can change the whole game,” said Henry. “You gotta be locked in. That happens in football. You have mistakes, but you gotta be more focused on your plays than that one mistake — you don’t want the mistakes to pile up. But mistakes are going to happen. We understand that. It’s football. Mistakes are going to happen, but you gotta be locked in so the mistakes don’t pile up. You gotta play complementary football in all three phases.”
It seems as if Henry is locked in for 2026.
