Delaware man gets life for stabbing, dismembering girlfriend, driving her body across state lines
NEWARK, Del. (TCN) — A 33-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison for murder after stabbing his ex-girlfriend 58 times.
On Dec. 17, 2024, Nobert Matara waited for his ex-girlfriend, Tracy Nyariki, 33, to get home. When she arrived, he stabbed her 58 times, dismembered her body, and placed the remains into a suitcase. He then drove across state lines with Nyariki’s body in the trunk of his car and was apprehended at a motel in Maryland. Attorney General Kathy Jennings called the details of the case “beyond disturbing.”
Matara pleaded guilty to first-degree murder on April 29.
The Delaware Attorney General’s Office announced Matara was sentenced to life in prison on June 26.
Of the sentence, Jennings said, “My thoughts are with the victim’s family at this difficult time, and I hope this outcome provides them with some degree of peace and closure.”
