Governor Josh Shapiro has already decided to celebrate LeBron James Day before he has even made his Philly debut.

Josh Shapiro announced his introduction of the LeBron James Day in Pennsylvania on July 24th, the day he signed for the 76ers.

“I hereby proclaim today to be LeBron James Day. Welcome to the City of Brotherly Love, LeBron James.”
However, Dave Portnoy has lambasted the governor for disrespecting the great athletes in Philadelphia’s history.
Portnoy argued that Allen Iverson, Julius Erving, and Bryce Harper all deserve to be recognised far more than LeBron.
“I found it stunning that the governor already declared a LeBron James Day,” he posted on social media.
“It’s a slap in the face to Dr J (Julius Erving), Allen Iverson, Bryce Harper and a lot of great Philadelphia athletes who never had a day named after them.
“This guy, at the ripe old age of 74, comes into town and gets a day named after him.

“I’m telling you, they had better get going fast when he’s on the team because this guy’s personality and psyche does not fit with the city of Philadelphia.”
Portnoy has raised a reasonable point that LeBron has not yet achieved anything in Philly and there is no guarantee he does.
However, whatever happens on the court, James’ move to the Sixers is bound to have an enormous impact on the city.
