Watch: Don’t Break These Met Gala Rules—Or You Won’t Be Invited Back
Damson Idris‘ look for Met Gala 2026 got the ultimate stamp of approval.
Before the F1 actor arrived to the star-studded gala—held at New York City’s The Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 4—wearing a Prada ensemble and DIDRIS jewelry, he gave his mom Philippa Idris a sneak peek. (See every celeb at Met Gala 2026 here.)
“I was talking to her this morning, I was showing her the pieces, showing her the cufflinks,” Damson, whose DIDRIS line is an homage to his mom, shared in E!’s By Design as part of Live From E! Stream: Met Gala. “She loves it all.”
“She used to buy and sell gold in her 20s, and it was a dream of hers,” he noted. “So I’m picking up where she left off. As long as I’m making her proud through this, then I know I’m on the right path.”
As for his Prada ensemble? Damson shared the story behind their dynamic collaboration.
“We drew from the kind of custom looks that we did throughout the year of award season,” he explained, “which focused heavily on trench coats.”
“But then we played around with different fabrics, different colors,” he continued of his look, which follows the gala’s “Fashion Is Art” dress code and “Costume Art” theme. “I wanted to do a nod to my next movie, Children of Blood and Bone. The red is very heavy in that, so just merging the worlds of film and fashion and then also incorporating DIDRIS into it, it’s just been an amazing collaboration.”

For Damson, who debuted DIDRIS at the 2025 event, the first Monday in May has marked a milestone in his career.
“The Met Gala is especially important for the story of DIDRIS,” he explained. “And the added beauty of tonight is this custom cuff, which is Burmese spinel, five carats.”
“It’s also covered with a bunch of precious rubies,” the 34-year-old added. “That’s going to sit with my look tonight, so it’s pretty special.”
