The Dallas Wings are heading into the final four games with plenty still to chase. Their playoff spot is already secured, yet the last week of the regular season could add another chapter to a season that has already changed the franchise’s recent history.
Dallas sits at 24-16 after going 10-34 last season. The Wings have already set a new Dallas-era win mark, and they can push that number much higher with four games remaining against Las Vegas, Phoenix twice and Seattle.

The most immediate prize is seeding. Dallas is tied at 24-16 with the New York Liberty and Washington Mystics and sits sixth in the overall standings, while Indiana and Atlanta are each 26-14.
That leaves very little room for error. Dallas has won four straight entering Thursday’s return from the FIBA break, and the remaining schedule gives the Wings a chance to keep moving while other teams in the cluster try to hold their spots.
A strong finish could also make the season look even more unusual when the final standings are set. Dallas has already secured its first playoff appearance since 2023, a sharp change from a year ago when the Wings finished last at 10-34.

The win total offers the bigger story. Dallas needs four victories to reach 28, which would turn a 14-win improvement already in hand into an 18-win jump from one season to the next.
That number would matter beyond the franchise. The WNBA record for the biggest one-season improvement currently belongs to the 2003 Detroit Shock, who went from nine wins in 2002 to 25 the next season, a 16-win increase.
So the Dallas Wings have a real shot at rewriting that mark. The Wings have already surpassed their 2023 total of 22 wins, and reaching 28 would also move the franchise past Detroit’s 25-win total from its championship season in 2003.

There is still work left to do before any record becomes official. For now, though, Dallas has gone from the bottom of the standings to the playoffs in one year, with a chance to finish the turnaround in a place no WNBA team has reached with an 18-win jump before.
