Crosshill Christian baseball player Miles Lute is the winner of the Maps Credit Union high school boys Athlete of the Week, as voted by Statesman Journal readers.

A sophomore, Lute posted a hit, scored two runs, pitched five innings and struck out seven batters May 29 in the Eagles’ 8-2 win over Country Christian in the Class 2A/1A state quarterfinals.
Lute received 57.55% of the reader poll votes. Dallas track and field athlete Bertram Latta was second (39.05%).

Alarcon, a junior, posted two hits, including a home run, and five RBIs May 29 in the Panthers’ 16-6 win over Silverton in the Class 5A state quarterfinals.
Barnett, a senior, won the Class 3A boys discus with a mark of 157 feet, 7 inches May 29 at the OSAA track and field state championships.

Latta, a sophomore, won the Class 5A boys discus at 169-6 May 29 at the OSAA track and field state championships.
Olivo, a junior, won the Class 6A boys discus at 174-0 May 29 at the OSAA track and field state championships.
Panuke, a senior, posted a hit and scored two runs, and pitched six innings and struck out eight batters May 29 in the Trojans’ 6-3 win over Grant Union in the Class 2A/1A state quarterfinals.
