Since his retirement in 2020, Cowboys fans have clung to the notion that linebacker Sean Lee might return as a coach, sharing his brilliant mental aptitude for the game with the next generation of Cowboys defenders. Lee, 39, hasn’t exactly been sitting around doing nothing since hanging up his cleats. He has been working on passing down his football knowledge… but his students are spread across the country and among the fanbases of all 32 NFL teams. Leading today’s headlines, we hear Lee offer a behind-the-curtain look at Adrenaline, the startup he helped create whose stated mission is to “replicate Sean’s football brain in an artificial intelligence.” The result is a product that “brings the [football] meeting room to the living room,” in Lee’s own words, providing TV audiences with real-time predictions on offensive and defensive tendencies and ball-target probabilities, just like Lee used to do from the field.
Dallas is certainly hoping to improve their linebacker play this year with a healthy DeMarvion Overshown… but that doesn’t mean the front office is ready to show him the long-term money. While the team’s staff writers debate the wisdom of extending Overshown (or even newcomer Dee Winters) quite yet, there’s a sense among others that Overshown’s injury history already has him on a list of Cowboys who likely won’t be back with the team in 2027. But a transcendent 2026 could always change that, for Agent Zero… or even a veteran like Malik Hooker.

Also, in case you missed it, what Malachi Lawrence’s college coach had to say about the first-round pick, how Tyler Smith is viewing the uncertainty over where he’ll line up, why Emmitt Smith is telling George Pickens to not necessarily follow his own example, and what had Dak Prescott and his ex-fiancée back together over the weekend.
We’re also checking on the noobs around the league. Fernando Mendoza wasn’t happy about rookie obligations that took him away from practice, Ty Simpson is trying to block out the noise over his controversial draft slot, the Titans are all aboard the Carnell Tate hype train after just his first OTA, and Mike McCarthy’s Steelers start tinkering with their Swiss-Army player and Navy alum.
Elsewhere, a timely and moving story for the holiday weekend about Eagles offensive lineman Tyler Steen and the ultimate sacrifice from one of his own family members that makes every day Memorial Day. Also, the Giants appear eager to move on from the Jaxson Dart/President Trump flap, the league is keeping the door cracked for an 18-game schedule as early as 2027, and Jori Epstein takes us inside how the NFL is still trying to help clubs identify future coaching candidates… while coming under fire for somehow being both too supportive and also not supportive enough of minority candidates.
