It’s time to look inside the world of dental care in B.C. A new “Oral Health Report” issued by the B.C. Dental Association titled “Building a Sustainable Oral Healthcare System for British Columbia” outlines five areas where dental healthcare can improve.

The report states, “B.C.’s oral healthcare system faces immediate and growing challenges, including access to care, workforce shortages, an evolving policy environment, and rising demand.” The report offers “recommendations to provide practical, evidence-based steps to protect access to care, support vulnerable populations and respond to rising demand.”

Key to improving oral healthcare delivery in B.C., says Dr. Jillian Belbin, the president of the B.C. Dental Association, is “a partnership between dentists as leaders and advisors and other stakeholders who will help ensure reforms are practical, responsive and grounded in patient realities.”
