Paul Ibe, media aide to the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar, has sarcastically congratulated President Bola Tinubu over the reported receipt of seven volumes of the proposed United Nations budget, questioning its relevance to Nigerians battling economic hardship.
In a post shared on X, Ibe contrasted the development with rising food prices, high fuel costs and expensive transportation, asking what the documents would do to ease the burden on households.
“Which volume will reduce the price of bread, rice, beans, yam, tomatoes and pepper?” he asked.
Ibe also questioned whether the documents would reduce petrol and diesel prices, lower transport fares or improve Nigerians’ purchasing power.
He described the country’s economic challenges as its own “seven volumes,” listing expensive food, high fuel costs, rising transport fares, dwindling purchasing power and empty pockets.
“Nigerians cannot eat diplomatic ceremonies, cook presidential photographs or fuel their vehicles with international documents,” Ibe wrote.
He added: “After all, seven volumes of the UN budget cannot fill one empty stomach.”
