$5.8 million worth of cocaine arrived in Vancouver via Honduras, Jamaica and Montreal

Vancouver police say a local business that handled a shipping container with almost $6 million of cocaine inside is not connected to the haul.

Sgt. Travis Fraser, from the Vancouver Police Department’s drug unit, said that on July 21 the business contacted the police when employees found 14 cocaine-filled duffel bags inside a container they were unloading in southeast Vancouver.

The total haul was a record for Vancouver at 328 kilograms, worth around $5.8 million, according to police.

“Obviously, the business was shocked by what it found. They called police right away and are in no way associated with the seized cocaine,” Fraser said in a news release. “This amount of drugs, as well as the stamps and packaging, clearly indicates organized crime is behind the shipment.”

It is believed the cocaine was shipped from Honduras in May 2026 and arrived in Montreal on July 5 after a stopover in Jamaica.

“We believe the cocaine was supposed to be removed prior to its arrival at the company. For some reason, it was not unloaded,” Fraser said.
