The Kansas City Chiefs have signed seven-time Pro Bowler Justin Tucker to their practice squad as Harrison Butker continues to struggle with his kicking. Tucker’s signing provides depth at the position following Butker’s recent missed field goals.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported the signing, noting that Justin Tucker had not joined a team since serving a 10-game suspension for violating the league’s Personal Conduct Policy. The Chiefs worked out three kickers before selecting Tucker, including former Los Angeles Rams kicker Harrison Mevis.

Rapoport reported that the move gives Kansas City another option at kicker while Butker remains on the active roster. He wrote: “The #Chiefs add Justin Tucker, the 7-time Pro Bowler, to their practice squad, the first time he’s signed since serving a 10-game suspension for violating the league’s Personal Conduct Policy.
He’s insurance for Harrison Butker, who has missed 15 total kicks since the start of the 2025 season.”
Butker has made 11 of his 16 field-goal attempts during the 2026 season, giving him a success rate of 68.8%. He missed two field goals in the Chiefs’ 20–3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, including a 58-yard attempt.
Tucker spent 13 seasons with the Baltimore Ravens after entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Texas. He has converted 89.1% of his career field-goal attempts, earned seven Pro Bowl selections and received five All-Pro honors. He also holds the NFL record for the longest successful field goal, a 66-yard kick made on September 26, 2021. Tucker won Super Bowl XLVII with Baltimore.

However, Tucker struggled during his final season with the Ravens. In 2024, he made 22 of 30 field-goal attempts, finishing with a 73.3% success rate. He missed eight field goals, including five from beyond 50 yards, along with two extra-point attempts.
Tucker’s departure from Baltimore also followed allegations of misconduct. In 2025, 16 massage therapists from eight Baltimore-area spas and wellness centers accused him of inappropriate behavior during massage sessions. The alleged incidents reportedly occurred between 2012 and 2016. Tucker denied the allegations, according to NFL reporting.
The Ravens released Tucker on May 5, 2025, ending his 13-season tenure with the team. On June 26, the NFL announced a 10-game suspension without pay for violating its Personal Conduct Policy. Tucker served the suspension as a free agent and became eligible for reinstatement in November 2025. He did not play in an NFL game during the 2025 season.
The Chiefs’ signing marks Tucker’s first NFL team affiliation since completing his suspension.
