Charges recommended in mallet attack in downtown Vancouver

Two men have been arrested after a mallet attack in downtown Vancouver.

Police were called about an assault with a hammer near West Cordova and Richard Streets just before 1:45 a.m. on Tuesday, said the Vancouver Police Department.

A 35-year-old man had injuries to his hands, a bloody nose and bruising on his head.

Police tracked down two men similar in appearance to the attackers captured on security video.

Police said they found a rubber mallet and the victim’s car key fob on one of the men.

Police have recommended robbery charges against the pair. They remain in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
