As a result, some teams head into this week’s Champions League fixtures under immense pressure, with nothing short of a win required.
Away to Bodø/Glimt, who have established themselves as Champions League giant-killers over the past two seasons, Lille desperately need three points to avoid having to start crossing a “top-24 finish” off their list of pre-season objectives.
LOSC have lost their opening three games and will next face Bayern Munich, Stuttgart, Bratislava and AS Roma. Three points or nothing tonight…

The English side have just one objective: take three points to give themselves some breathing room ahead of a particularly daunting run of fixtures.

Currently 14th with five points, Bayern Munich also need to step things up if they hope to finish in the top eight and qualify directly for the round of 16. A win against Atlético Madrid this Tuesday would therefore be particularly valuable.
Another slip-up could leave the Bavarians in an uncomfortable position: even if they won all their remaining games, they would finish with a maximum of 17 points. That tally could prove insufficient given the pace being set by PSG, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Arsenal and Barcelona…
